International Programs Accountant
Live & Learn Environmental Education 

Live & Learn makes a difference. We’re a small, effective network of community development offices throughout Asia and the Pacific that implement community-based development programs focused on climate resilience, nature-based solutions, inclusion and wellbeing.
 
THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic International Programs Accountant to join our finance team based at our Head Office in Melbourne-CBD. You will be responsible for end-to-end financial accounting for the grants and government funding arm of the business including processing month end and year end, and consolidated management reporting, and grant financial acquittals. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • End-to-end financial accounting for the organization’s grants, by maintaining accounting systems, processing journals, completing reconciliations and performing P&L and balance sheet analysis.
  • Cash flow forecasting, preparation of project budgets and project partnership agreement.
  • Responsible for external and Internal audits and co-ordination with network offices. 
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements, while reviewing and developing organizational policies and procedures periodically to drive process effectively


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary financial qualifications (CA or CPA advantageous)
  • 5 plus years’ experience in a similar role, experience gained in a not-for-profit environment is desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting processes and MYOB
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • You must be an Australian citizen/ Permanent Residence Visa holder

Payroll and Accounts Officer

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Payroll and Accounts Officer to join our finance team based at our Head Office in Melbourne-CBD.  The position is full time temporary contract for 6 months, as a maternity leave cover, and subject to extension based on performance. You will be responsible for payroll, accounts and administration related duties. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar position. (NFP experience is preferred)
  • High level of accuracy & attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Detailed technical knowledge of MYOB and MS Excel is essential
  • Good working knowledge of general ledgers and accounting systems
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or an equivalent field
  • You must be an Australian citizen/ Permanent Residence Visa holder

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACTIVITIES

Finance & Accounting

  • Processing monthly and ad-hoc payroll
  • Quarterly reconciliation of superannuation 
  • General bookkeeping including monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintenance of receivables and payables
  • Collaborate with country officers to prepare project financial reports 
  • Support for annual audit and project audits

Administration and Organizational Support

  • Prepare project partnership contracts
  • Employment contract preparation and managing employee personnel files
